There Are Etiquette Guidelines For Planning a Second Wedding

There are traditions and etiquette for planning a second wedding that could save you a ton of money and a big headache. Instead of being formal and lavish the second wedding should be more casual. Although there have been second and subsequent marriages for a long time the number of them grows every year.

Nonetheless every marriage is an important and special ceremony. This marriage is just as important to you as the first one and you want things to be different. Start with the affairs leading up to the wedding day and follow through to the honeymoon, leaving no detail left out, to make sure it is. Not only for yourself but friends and family that may have attended your first wedding.

Let's get into a few things to do different and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Your children should be the first to know, and how you tell them is completely up to you. You probably didn't have this issue the first time you got married but don't worry, even if they think they are not in favor of it they will learn to adapt. Every child will have a different reaction this is especially true if you are dealing with very young children.

Next to know should be the parents of the bride and groom. You should also notify any ex spouses and hopefully they will be supportive and help any children that may need reassurance.

You may choose to let friends and extended family know with carefully thought out and proper etiquette wedding invitation words to announce your engagement. But you can also announce the engagement by putting an ad in the local paper or sending emails and making phone calls. It is even acceptable to throw an informal party and make the announcement then.

Because this wedding will be paid for by you and your new spouse the budget may be more important. You can have a church wedding or a small civil one as long as your budget allows.

Even if you are on speaking terms with ex family members you should avoid inviting them to the ceremony. Besides that it is acceptable to invite anyone you want.

A bridal shower is perfectly acceptable the only difference may be the gifts. Because you most likely already have everything you need for the home, the gifts will probably be more personal. You can also go ahead and have a bridal registry.

Do things the way you want but don't do them the same way you did the first time. The changes don't have to be drastic ones either, choosing a different dress and location are the kind of things that are easy to do but make a difference.
